Thanksgiving weekend is usually all about cozy meals, family gatherings, and kicking off the holiday season—but this year, we traded the turkey for road trip snacks and set out on a desert adventure. Braving the notorious holiday traffic, we made our way from Los Angeles to Phoenix, Sedona, and eventually the Grand Canyon—all in the span of four incredible days.
Sedona: Red Rocks & Unmatched Energy
Our first major stop was Sedona, a place that somehow feels both peaceful and energizing the moment you arrive. Those towering red rocks never get old, but this time felt even more special surrounded by family and close friends who joined us for the trip.
If you ever find yourself in Sedona, I can’t recommend the Pink Jeep Tour enough. It’s the perfect mix of fun, history, and jaw-dropping views. You learn so much about Sedona’s past, rock formations, and hidden gems you’d never discover on your own. And of course—make sure you get some hiking in. Sedona’s trails are among the most beautiful in the country, and no photo truly does them justice.
The Grand Canyon: As Majestic as Ever
From Sedona, we made our way to the Grand Canyon, and even if you’ve been before, standing on that rim always feels brand new. The scale, the colors, the silence—it’s one of those places that reminds you just how big and beautiful the world is.
We spent a night at one of the lodges, which turned out to be one of the most unforgettable parts of the trip. Waking up to canyon views, catching sunrise, and enjoying quiet moments with loved ones made the entire experience even more meaningful.
Food, Friends & Chicago Pizza (Yes, in AZ!)
Although it wasn’t technically an Arizona highlight, one of our most memorable meals was at Lou Malnati’s. One of our friends on the trip is from Chicago, so naturally we had to pay homage. Sharing deep dish, laughing over slices bigger than our hands, and enjoying a little taste of the Midwest in the desert made the meal unforgettable.
Gratitude in Every Moment
This trip wasn’t just about the views—though there were plenty. It was the laughter, shared meals, late-night conversations, endless snacks, and the simple appreciation of spending time together in places filled with natural beauty.
Loved every minute of our 2025 Thanksgiving—and already looking forward to the next adventure.
